Program Details

We offer 2-week Embodied English Summer Programs for independent student groups!

During weekdays, students engage in three-hour Embodied English pronunciation and communication classes. Twice per week, students participate in theatre workshops with our exceptional drama instructors where they have the opportunity to practice their English language skills in a fun and creative environment.

EMBODIED ENGLISH

Our English programs use a unique methodology developed by Toronto Laboratory Theatre called Embodied EnglishEmbodied English involves no desks, no writing and no boring memorization. Through close observation, an analysis of numerous samples of native speakers’ verbal and non-verbal behaviour, and class improvisation, students learn the differences between the language choices and strategies that native speakers of English tend to make and their own way of using English.

This new awareness allows students to greatly improve their ability to communicate and be understood. The course also helps English learners to improve their pronunciation: specifically intonation and speech rhythm, both of which are aspects of pronunciation commonly ignored by other ESL programs.
